SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME

Face front and queue up your Bully Maguire memes, true subscribers! In an uncertain world, one of life's few guarantees is a new Spider-Man movie, and it's getting increasingly hard to separate that character from the vast legacy behind him. Thankfully, pop culture's recent obsession with the multiverse (of madness!) has given Peter Parker another opportunity to confront his greatest nemesis: Peter Parker! And also the Green Goblin. Marvel's Spider-Man: No Way Home bites off more than any film should be able to chew, with Spidey facing the fallout of Mysterio's final dick move, a perilous team-up with Doctor Strange, a gauntlet against the dimension-hopping Sinister Six-Minus-One, and a serious case of space envy from his peers. And the Green Goblin's there. How can a movie stand as a sequel to ELEVEN films, across multiple generations, and still carve out its own unique place in the mythology? Because anything is possible in a universe that contains Willem Dafoe.

Mini BOP - VENOM

The nineties were a grand ole' time if you were a geeky kid. An era ruled by a wise and fair Macho King, all your favorite characters co-existed in ice cream form, and an invasion of bigger, badder, and extrem-ier anti-heroes hit comics like a flaming-hot meteor, and cooled off just as quickly. Over thirty years since his creation, VENOM has not only outlived the trends that birthed him, but thrived -- much to the chagrin of the same readers who were his first fans. In Eddie Brock's film debut (we don't talk about Spider-Man 3), Ruben Fleischer and co. have not only paid shockingly faithful tribute to the nerd world's #1 problematic fave, they've chucked the macho doom-and-gloom for an upbeat romp about a boy and his blob. So why all the hate? In this Mini BOP, Symbiotic Experts Mike and Jamie weigh in on fans' curious relationship with the character, the one-of-a-kind tone that sets it apart from a sub-genre aching for experimentation, where this ranks in the annals of Weird Tom Hardy Performances, and how Venom is 100% a queer romantic-comedy. CHANGE OUR MINDS.

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME

In today's troubling world, we need real heroes now more than ever. That's why we're glad to report that a new icon has risen to inspire America in its darkest hour: Mysterio, the star of Marvel's Spider-Man: Far From Home. Listen to us rave about how Jake Gyllenhaal brings the iconic inter-dimensional traveler known as Mysterio to life, the surprisingly relevant themes his character represents, and what the developments he brings to the table mean for both Spider-Man and the MCU at large. In a world where Into The Spider-Verse exists, what does this movie do to step out of the shadow of a cultural touchstone, and how does it all, in the end, come down to Mysterio? Only by listening can the truth be found!

SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Commentary Track

Okay, let's try this again: This is BOP n' A Movie, and we're not the only podcast doing a commentary for Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse anymore. Not by a long-shot. We are, however, the only one with drink-mixing segments, and that's something! Listen to the pod-slingers discuss this movie's surprisingly deep themes of identity and multiculturalism, its one-of-a-kind animation style, and how it wove together disparate threads from a dozen comic sources to make what may be the perfect superhero movie. Do we still find time to thirst over a cartoon pig? Of course. But what makes us stupid... is what makes us qualified to talk about Spider-Man.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Dread it. Run from it. This episode still arrives. The BOP Crew have used the Eye of Agamotto to view 300,605 versions of this episode. We stay on topic for exactly... one. Good news! That's the one we're releasing, so you get all the spoilers, all the tears, and all the insane theories! What has this grand experiment in cinematic storytelling wrought? Mostly praise for how enthralling and filled with pathos THANOS of all characters is, but also a look into how the Russo Brothers pulled off the hat trick of living up to hype and showing off what the MCU is capable of with ten years behind it. After the Malekith's, Killian's, and Yellow Jacket's of the world, is it really a villain's story that becomes the perfect summation of the MCU thus far? It's AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR time, folks!

Not feeling so good? Download the episode now to hopefully still exist tomorrow!

Masters of the Cinematic Universe

Do you think this is the only movie podcast in the world? You've downloaded part of a bigger universe... you just don't know it yet. Unrelated to those ominous words, this episode sees The Crew taking a look at Hollywood's current obsession with the shared cinematic universe. Why does Marvel have such a monopoly on the concept, and what essential part of the equation are studios missing? What can be gained from such a complicated endeavor, and how have creators pulled off such feats in the past? And for God's sake, will Cody ever get over The Mummy? No. No, he will not. It's The Mummy.

Spider-Man Homecoming

The BOP Crew wants to talk about Spider-Man Homecoming but they just can't get the podcast to deactivate kill mode! OH GOD WATCH OUT. Well, now that the murder is out of the way, we can tell you that we have the uncanny ability to discuss Spider-Man and Spider-Man related things way too much, so add that on top of how gosh darn excellent Homecoming is, both as a Spidey film and a film in general -- well, you're in for a doozy, folks. We can and WILL do whatever a Spider can! Which means ruining our lives by being burdened with an over-inflated sense of responsibility. But hey, you get a movie podcast out of it.

Captain America: Civil War

The BOP Crew are trying to stop Box Office Pulp from being torn apart... but Cody did that the moment he lost his original intro. It's an all out Civil War of the American variety, as Iron Mike and Captain Cody come to blows over what makes a good ratio of dick jokes, while a horrified Spider-James looks on from the distance, all of them made completely unaware that this discussion was only a scheme perpetrated by the surprisingly capable Baron MB. Just how many superhero puns can the group make when talking about Marvel Studios' latest summer blockbuster, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR? Come and find out, but you better be damn sure that you're bringing Mission Report, December 16th, 1991, with you.

You may not deserve to carry that shield, but you do deserve to download the episode by clicking here!
